How it works
You press "Snapshot" before touching anything
Simplio creates it in AWS with a name that identifies it (machine and date). While it is being made, the machine keeps running.
You see what you have and how much it takes up
List of the machine's snapshots with date and size. What it takes up is what you pay for.
You delete the old ones
With the code from your phone. Or you let the retention of the scheduled ones do it by itself.
You restore if needed
From a snapshot a new machine is created, exactly as it was at that moment.
How secure it is
Deleting asks for two-factor
A snapshot is a backup: it isn't deleted by a mistaken click.
Separate permission
Creating and deleting snapshots are granted per person and per machine.
The same task, in AWS and in Simplio

Frequently asked questions
How much does a snapshot cost?
AWS charges for the gigabytes it takes up, every month it exists. That's why you should delete the ones you no longer need or set a retention.
Does it stop the machine while it's being made?
No. The machine keeps running. On EC2 it's best to do it at a quiet moment so the files are consistent.
