How it works
You connect your AWS account and choose which machines to manage
Simplio finds the account's Lightsail and EC2 machines, in all regions, and you tick which ones you want to see. The others don't appear.
You give them a name
A name your team understands: "Shop", "Email", "Customer X tests". The AWS identifier is still there, in the details, in case it's needed.
Cards or list, on mobile too
A button next to the search box switches between cards and a compact list, sortable by any column: cost per month, status, region, IP, system. Simplio remembers your choice per screen. The list never scrolls sideways: on a narrow screen the less important columns are hidden and the essentials still fit on the phone. The actions for each machine are always in the same place, a three-dot menu, in both modes. And the same goes for snapshots, buckets, databases, functions, domains and email.
The card keeps itself up to date
Status (running, stopped, starting…), public and private IP, and the technical details are read from AWS. If the machine changes outside Simplio, the card reflects it; if it is deleted in AWS, the card says so clearly and it can be removed from the list.
How secure it is
Only what you have ticked
Simplio only reads and shows the machines you chose to manage, with the read permission the AWS account itself grants it. Nothing more.
Each person, their own cards
A user sees only the machines they have been granted. The external technician sees the test one; the agency's customer, their own.
The same task, in AWS and in Simplio
| On your own in AWS | In Simplio | |
|---|---|---|
| See whether a machine is on | Sign in to the right account, go to the right service, switch to the right region, look for the identifier | Look at the card |
| Several AWS accounts | One session per account, or set up AWS Organizations | All on the same screen, with the account shown on each card |
| Know which machine is which | AWS tags, if anyone added them | The name you give it, visible everywhere |
| View 30 machines sorted by cost from your phone | Console table with sideways scrolling, region by region | List sortable by cost, with no sideways scrolling, all regions and accounts |
Frequently asked questions
Does Simplio change anything on my machines when connecting them?
No. Connecting the account and choosing machines only reads information. Any action (start, stop, snapshot…) is a separate button, with its own permissions and, if you enable it, two-factor.
And if a machine is deleted in AWS?
Its card changes to say "Does not exist in AWS" and the administrator can remove it from the list with one click. It doesn't stay as if it were still there.
